The gas–liquid hydrodynamics and mass transfer were studied in a concentric tube internal jet-loop airlift reactor with conical bottom. Comparing standard design, the gas separator was equipped an adjustable deflector placed above riser. effect of riser superficial velocity uSGR on total holdup ?GT, homogenization time tH, overall volumetric liquid-phase coefficient kLa investigated laboratory bioreactor, 300 mm inner diameter, two-phase air–water system three-phase air–water–PVC–particle solid fraction 1% for various clearances. operated range from 0.011 to 0.045 m/s. For system, when reducing clearance, decreased, increased twice compared highest clearance tested, slightly by 10–17%. presence phase shortened time, especially lower reduced 15–35%. Compared noticeable found coefficient, which approx. 20–29% higher lowest tested clearance.
